				 Here the formerly GDR- version of the Ukrainian Soljanka is cooked. 
Once this soup belonged to the standard available capacity of any  
gastronimical facility of the GDR; the recipe, which the soup is based on, originally comes from the book "Kochen", Verlag für die Frau, 
GDR- Leipzig, 4. edition 1981, p. 396 (indications of quantity for 
4 persons) 
 
Ukrainian Soljanka 
 
200g onions 
100g bacon 
2 garlic cloves 
100g tomato puree 
1tbsp of sweet paprika spice 
500g various sorts of meat (kidney,leavings of barbecue, ham) 
2 gherkins 
1 1/2l meat broth 
salt, pepper 
1tbsp of capers 
half of a lemon 
3-4 tbsp of soured cream 
 
Saute finely chopped onions with diced bacon. Add ground garlic,  
tomato puree and paprika spice as well as meat (cut in fine strips) 
and also sliced gherkins. Stew for a few minutes, infuse meat broth 
and boil for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Pour it in a 
bowl, bestraw with capers and put in 2-3 lemon slices. 
Garnish with chopped dill and parsley and pour in soured cream, just 
before serving.
