The 'Lenten Soup' in this case is a cured pork soup.
Once Christmas Eve was a lenten day until 11 a.m., at least in catholic families.
So the cured pork was served and is served at our home not until gift giving.
recipe:
cured pork, water, rootage (not too little), 1 onion, lovage, peppercorns, salt.
soup addition: Reibgerstel (special pasta)
make a dough of 2 eggs, flour and salt, allow to rest for half an hour and grate it with a rasp.
